My First Sephora Order of the Year! Check Out My Buys!!

Hey Everyone,

Couple housekeeping things first!

1. Sorry I haven't posted in a couple days! I was really sick for a couple days, and I'm still a little sick so that's why I am not doing a video product review post today :( I'm hoping I feel better soon!

2. Sorry for the constant background change of the blog site! As a designer myself, I find it completely annoying to constantly change backgrounds, but I am trying to find a consistent look that I really like and want to keep for awhile. So please bare with me :)

Okay, so on to my product review now!

I got my first Sephora order in the mail in the other day, and I was so excited to tell you guys all about the products that I got this time around. One of my favorite things to do is to watch other tutorials, products reviews, articles, etc about products and then try them out for myself. In fact, the inspiration for my first item that I purchased was from a Sephora holiday eyeshadow tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BASBbML9bPc&list=PLY7g-CCAa6E4H17y7_yN4ExvrQiyHxssP&index=1). *On a side note, I highly recommend subscribing to Sephora's YouTube channel for tutorials, products, and much more :)

This retails for $24.00
So the first product in my Sephora haul was the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in "Smoke." I bought this product mainly to use for an all over smokey eye color rather than using my palettes or my eyeliners to create it. I'm loving the pigmentation of this product on my eye, as well as my hand when I swatch it on there. It's a great creamy and smooth consistency that isn't irritating on my eyes when I apply it, and it blends really nice on my eyelid. The only complaint I have about the eye stick is that I felt like the product didn't stay true to color as the day wore on. I felt that it would be a product that I would have to have on me to touch up during the day because the color fades. Next time I may try to apply it heavier in the morning and see if I have the same result.

This retails for $18.00
I was so excited to finally get my hands on the Sephora Collection Pro Smudge Brush! I was in desperate need of a good smudge brush to use for my smokey eye make up looks, and this product was absolutely PERFECT for the job! I really like this tool, and it is true to what it is meant to do. It is the best tool to use for creating the perfect smokey eye look, and it also came with a really nice case to keep it protected and shaped after cleaning for the next use.

Small version retails for $10,
Big version retails for $19

I was looking for a great mascara to add to my repertoire of test mascaras in my collection when I was shopping this time, and I came across Benefits' BADgal Lash mascara in "rich black." I opted for the smaller version, which retails for $10, instead of the larger one, which retails for $19. I really like this product for a couple reasons. 1. I love mascara's with the natural bristles rather than the plastic ones. I think that you get a better finish and it doesn't let your lashes clump as much. 2. It doesn't clump, even when I apply a second coat of the product. 3. it doesn't flake off or leave product on my face halfway through the day. Nothing annoys me more than a mascara that starts flaking off mid-day. The only thing that I wish was a little better about the product would show up blacker on my eyelashes. I have been having the problem with my mascara's lately; I just feel like none are as black as my Mary Kay ultimate mascara. Overall, I would recommend this product, and would give it a good review!

On now onto the samples that I got with my order...

I was able to order the free birthday gift before the end of the year, even though I signed up for VIB way after my birthday. The gift was the Fresh Sugar Mini Kisses Lip Duo. The kit came with two tubes, one was the colored tinted one and the other was just the normal type. I was really excited to try these, especially the tinted one named "rose." Rose was very disappointing, mainly because it was creamy and moisturizing on the surface, but underneath that my lips were completely chapped and peeling. This product was an epic let down, and I wont buy this in a larger tube for personal use. The normal type/flavor wasn't too bad. It definitely did a better job at moisturizing my lips, but it definitely doesn't work as good as my Nivea or even my Mary Kay Satin Lips. Overall, very disappointed with these two products, and I probably wouldn't recommend them to any of my friends or family.

I also got the Coach Poppy perfume sample and the Boscia Oil-Free Nightly Hydration cream sample with my order. I actually have the big version of the poppy (that I haven't opened yet), so I knew that I already LOVED the scent, but nothing else looked appealing on the free sample list. I have not tried to Hydration cream yet, but I can let you guys know what I think when I do.

Overall, I was pretty happy with this order, and I have definitely found a couple of products that I will continue to use in the future. I am definitely getting my shopping list together for my next order from Sephora, and hopefully I will be able to do a video tutorial with the next Sephora haul :)
