Hey Everyone,
I just did my nails recently, and I wanted to share with you guys step by step of just how I created my "Purplecraze" (yes I dubbed this name myself) nail look of January :)
1. Start with a clear base coat all over the nails, and let it dry for a minute or so before applying the first color all over the your nails.
2. Start with applying the first color "What Film Noir You In?" all over your nails in a thinner coat for the first pass over the nails. You will be applying a second coat of this color later on in the process. Let it dry for a couple minutes.
3. Next you take the second color "Here's Lilac-in at You, Kid" and apply a messy french tip on the ends of our nails. This step is really your own experimental preference on how much dark color you want on the ends of your nails. Let it dry for a couple minutes before completing the next step.
4. Last step before applying the top coat to seal everything is to reapply the "What Film Noir You In?" color all over the nail again, blending the darker color in with the lighter color for a gradient/purple ombre effect on the nails. With this coat, the first color should be on thick enough to create the desired effect shown in the photo. Let it dry for a couple minutes.
5. Last step is to apply a clear top coat over the nails to seal in the colors and to create maximum shine on the surface. Apply one to two coats as necessary, and continue to repeat this step over the next couple of days to keep the color as long as possible (not necessary if you are like me and change nail colors all the time).
Voila!!! The end result is a beautiful purple gradient/ombre effect on your nails that are HOTTTTT! This look was due in part by the promo poster I saw at Sephora featuring these two colors to create it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the poster photo online to show you guys with this blog today, but I was able to find it at the nail station at both Sephora's that I went to recently.
I love this effect on my nails! It makes me feel artistic, even though I didn't do anything super amazing to them. The do remind me slightly of an airbrush effect, at a fraction of a cost! I will link these colors below so that you can check them out the next time you drop into Sephora to do some shopping :)

Hi! I also saw the little poster at Sephora and purchased both polishes.
ReplyDeleteYou're ombre effect looks great! I did mine a little differently.
I did a clear base, let it dry. two coats of "What Film Noir You In" and let that dry and then I took a small sponge and sponged on "Here's lilac-in At You, Kid" on the tips. I did that twice also until I got the effect I wanted.
To more effectively merge the two shades as an ombre, I covered the entire nail with Deborah Lippman's "Bring on the Bling," which is a sheer pearlescent layering polish. And then another clear quick dry polish on top to seal and dry it quickly.
The effect is subtle but truly awesome and I've received a lot of compliments!
wonderful purple!!! =)
