DIY Acne Mask

Hey Everyone!

I you guys haven’t noticed I have been actively trying to be more DIY and green about my beauty products, well my skin care anyways… I have been reading and pinning tons of ideas and recipes for transforming my beauty products into a more natural and green lifestyle choice, and one of my best sources who is also going through a similar lifestyle change is Arielle from her blog Beauty by Arielle. We have been commenting and reading each other’s blog for a while now that it totally makes sense to do a DIY beauty collaboration with one another!

DIY Acne Mask

So I started my search on Pinterest for a great, but easy DIY acne face mask for my absolutely unruly skin right now, and found this one here. It was simple, only needed 2 ingredients (3 if you add tea tree oil), and I already had two of the ingredients on hand to create this concoction. I’m going to show you guys how I created my acne mask using pure honey, and coconut oil.

What you will need:- Organic Virgin Coconut Oil- Organic Pure Honey or Raw Honey (I wasn’t able to find the raw one at my grocery store so I substituted with pure honey instead)- Optional- Tea Tree Oil (I added a few drops to help combat acne causing bacteria)

I started by combining 1 tbsp. of the coconut oil and 2 tbsp. of the honey together in a small Tupperware container. (I later decided to double the recipe)

I then added a few drops of tea tree oil to the mixture and then made sure it was mixed through well.

I then applied a generous layer to clean skin for 30 mins a day for a little over a week now.

DIY Acne Mask

While I have noticed that this mask is helping to dry out my frequent breakouts, it hasn’t instantly cured the problem. I have noticed visible reduction in redness come the morning time, but again it hasn’t been the instant clearing mask like I thought it would be which is a little disappointing for me… I think it is definitely a great treatment solution though, and like I mentioned it is doing wonders for drying up those break out spots so they can begin to heal. The original recipe, as I mentioned above, called for raw honey, so I will probably try to get a hold of some of that off of amazon to see if that changes the effects and outcome of this treatment mask. But as of right now after using it fairly consistent over the last week in a half, I find that this mask is just okay. I do love the fact that it is gentle enough to use as a daily treatment, and is definitely moisturizing with help from the coconut oil. I will definitely keep using this consistently over next couple weeks, and give you an update on the results.
